A singular artifact of craft, the Sashiko Destroyed Denim represents one of the most labor-intensive creations in Obscurant’s archive. Built across 24 hand-sewn sashiko panels and layered with multiple executions of the Rui Kè technique — from classic and circular manipulations to reclaimed denim window panes — this pair carries 72 recorded hours of handwork. More than denim, it is a study in time, process, and defiance of mass production.
Cut in a wide leg with a relaxed fit, the jeans balance their complex surface with functional structure. Double belt loops, a 7” nickel zipper, and reinforced construction ensure durability even as the piece asserts itself as wearable art. This is an uncompromising one-of-one creation — destroyed, rebuilt, and transformed through heritage craft into something wholly unique.
