Inside the Scene: Judging the Modern Dandy Styling Competition at El Centro

Last week, I had the pleasure of serving as a judge for a student styling competition at Dallas College El Centro. The theme? Modern Dandy. Five ambitious contestants stepped up with fresh, unexpected takes—some sleek and tailored, others bold and avant-garde. While a few looks clearly stole the spotlight, every student brought thought, creativity, and real heart to the runway.

A special thank you to Sage McEuin for the invite—it was an honor to be involved. It also gave me a chance to reconnect with some familiar industry faces on the judging panel, which always makes these events even more rewarding.

To top it off, a partner of one of our fellow C1371C Collective members was DJing that night—proof that the creative community in Dallas is as connected as ever. Fashion, music, mentorship—it all came together in the best way.

I’m excited to keep showing up for our local scene and helping support the next wave of talent. And speaking of, Obscurant recently brought on a new intern—more on that soon.

Until then—stay rare, stay deliberate.
